Kareena Kapoor started her career in the year 2000, with the movie “Refugee” with Abhishek Bachchan. Her first debutant film was supposed to be Rakesh Roshan’s “Kaho Naa...Pyaar Hai,” but after shooting for few days she left the project. The exact reason for abandoning the project is not known.

Kareena Kapoor movies history is quite interesting as she has played various types of roles in such a small time frame. Her debutant film J.P. Dutta’s “Refugee” was based on Indo-Pakistani war of 1971. She played the role of a Bangladeshi girl who falls in love with a refugee played by Abhishek Bachchan, whose job was to illegally send civilians back and forth across the border. Although the movie didn’t do well in the box office, Kareena Kapoor received critical acclamation. This film earned her Filmfare Best Female Debut Award.

Kareena Kapoor first hit movie was Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai. Then she was opposite to Hrithik Roshan in the movie “Yaadein”. Her other films at the initial age of the career included Abbas Mustan “Ajnabee,” among others. This movie was a moderate hit.

Her performance in the movie was well-received by critics. She also bagged Filmfare Special Performance Award for this movie. In 2006 she gave another hit movie “Omkara” which was the Hindi version of William Shakespeare’s Othello.

In 2007, Kareena Kapoor was casted in Imtiaz Ali’s Jab We Met, opposite to Shahid Kapoor. This is a romantic comedy film and she portrayed the role of Geet Dhillon, a vivacious Sikh girl. This movie was the year’s one of the biggest hit and she earned Filmfare Best Actress Award for this movie and also Star Screen Award for Best Actress.
